Pakistan CJCSC armed forces visit Egypt for security talks

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza paid an official visit to Egypt to participate in the third round of Defence and Security Talks, during which both countries resolved to strengthen defence and security cooperation.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during the visit, CJCSC Mirza met His Excellency Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt; General Abdel Mageed Ahmed Abdel Mageed Saqr, Minister of Defence and Military Production and Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces; Admiral Osama Mounier Mohamed Rabie, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority; and His Eminence Professor Dr Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar.

Discussions centred on bilateral military cooperation, security, counter-terrorism, and the prevailing regional situation. Representatives from both sides reaffirmed their shared interest in strengthening and expanding military-to-military ties, particularly in the areas of training, joint exercises and defence collaboration.

In his meeting with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, CJCSC Mirza underlined the significance of religious and interfaith harmony in fostering tolerance and inclusivity and in addressing root causes of terrorism.

Egyptian leaders commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

On arrival at the Ministry of Defence, CJCSC Mirza received a Guard of Honour from a contingent of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
