Pakistan Sets Up National Level Threat Intelligence System
Defence affairs - Def-Geopolitics
A major development has taken place in Pakistan’s cybersecurity framework with the establishment of a national-level threat intelligence integration and sharing system aimed at strengthening cyber defense and protecting critical infrastructure.
Sources told (DAM.) that the system has been developed by the National CERT using the Malware Information Sharing Platform (MISP). It has been integrated with Pakistan Army Cyber Division-101 and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to ensure coordinated protection against cyber threats.
The sources stated that the new system enables seamless intelligence sharing between National CERT, Pakistan Army Cyber Division-101 and PTA, creating a unified and coordinated national cyber defense posture. Through centralized and correlated threat intelligence, authorities will be able to detect cyber threats at an early stage, particularly those targeting critical national infrastructure, government networks, and telecom systems.
Officials say the locally governed MISP-based platform will strengthen Pakistan’s cyber sovereignty by reducing reliance on external intelligence sources while improving preparedness against state-sponsored and advanced persistent threats.

The integrated system will also enhance national cyber situational awareness and allow institutions to respond to threats in real time by sharing indicators of compromise, including malicious IP addresses, domains, hashes, and attack techniques.
According to the sources, real-time sharing of threat data will significantly reduce response times and help limit the spread and impact of cyberattacks. The system is also expected to improve coordination among national institutions, enabling faster escalation, stronger communication, and more effective joint action during cyber incidents affecting key sectors and national networks.
The integrated threat intelligence sharing mechanism is expected to further strengthen national security by supporting predictive analysis and threat hunting, allowing preventive measures to be taken before attacks occur. The system will enhance collective defense capabilities, provide timely alerts against threats to critical infrastructure, and contribute directly to the protection of Pakistan’s national security interests in cyberspace, the sources added.
